Finding the money is a constant battle in this economy, but with programs like the Rogue Hero Campaign needs can be met.

“The Rogue Hero campaign is an internal fundraising campaign directed by the RCC Foundation,” said Amy Durst, Campus Co-Chair and assistant to Linda Renfro, Dean School of Workforce & College Preparation.

Vicki Edwards, a current student at Rogue Community College is just one of many students who have benefited from the RCC foundation, which is funded by the Rogue Hero Campaign.

“Getting that scholarship was very exciting because it has helped out with the expenses of college, and it also was a great confirmation that I am on the right track,” Edwards said.

The five categories that donors can dedicate their pledge to are Scholarship, Endowments, College Initiatives, Unrestricted Fund, and Department Endowments. These categories go into supporting students, funding department projects, and improving programs.

“Our goal for 2012 is to reach 100 percent faculty and staff participation,” said RCC Foundation Coordinator Leslee Heater. “Last year, 75 percent of employees participated and raised $45,000 – 100 percent of which went directly to RCC students and college projects.”

The campaign dates are from Oct.  15 through Nov. 19, so there is still plenty of time to reach this year’s goal.
